Giovannie Espiritu is a groundbreaking storyteller whose creative vision is deeply informed by her journey as a bisexual, once-undocumented immigrant Filipina mom who survived a Biblical doomsday cult. Her work—ranging from film to television—explores themes of resilience, social justice, and human complexity. Her acclaimed short films, including ALLY 3000, which garnered over 12 awards, and Legacy, which won a 2023 Silver Telly and the Hyundai Evolve Innovation Award, tackle issues of upending the patriarchy, generational trauma, and societal bias with humor and heart.
Espiritu’s latest project, MAID TO SHINE, a six-episode romantic comedy set against the vibrant backdrop of Las Vegas about a Filipina maid with a hidden talent now streaming on VIVA One Plus and Viva Max, highlights her commitment to inclusive storytelling. Additionally, her feature film LOVE & KARMA featuring International star Bai Ling, Oscar nominee Eric Roberts, Golden Globe nominee Joanna Pacula, and starring Filipino talent Belinda Panelo and Jojo Riguerra, showcases her knack for blending emotional depth with engaging narratives.
Espiritu’s mantra, “Break Hearts Wide Open and Create More Moments of Joy,” drives her to craft stories that uncover resilience, hope, and humanity in all its forms.
Recognized as one of the “Most Influential Filipina Women in the World” by the Filipina Women’s Network and The Outstanding Filipino Awardee Awardee, As a speaker and mentor, Giovannie empowers creative women to reclaim their voice, set boundaries, and build careers on their own terms. Through her signature keynote, "From Invisible to Inevitable: How 'Good Girls' Reclaim Their Voice, Vision, and Power,” she invites women to unleash their inner baddie through the Sacred Rebel Method™—a framework that helps overlooked creatives step into unapologetic leadership and creative power.
She is a proud member of the Producers Guild of America, Alliance of Women Directors, the TV Academy, and SAG-AFTRA.
